Sustain

Between 1996 and 2005, John Beske, the future partner of Vegan Street Media, served as the creative director for an innovative nonprofit marketing agency called Sustain. Sustain produced powerful marketing and design materials for dozens of environmental and social justice groups from small bands of local citizens working to protect their communities to many of the best known environmental groups like Sierra Club, EarthJustice, Greenpeace and the Rainforest Action Network.

John's team supervised the creation and production of hundreds of ads, reports, billboards, websites and many other forms of media that all combined to win dozens of victories for the environment. Our work helped shut down toxic factories, protect local water supplies and open lands, make cities safer for bicyclists and pedestrians, prevent the damming of the Mississippi River, establish clean National Organic Standards and pressure Congress into setting up a recycling program for the US Capitol Building.
