Marketing and Brand Development
Chicago's first vegan restaurant, Soul Vegetarian opened 40 years ago in 1981. Over the years, it has become a neighborhood hub as well as a destination for vegans and good food lovers from all over the city, the country and the world. During the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020, Soul Vegetarian decided to use the downtime to stage a completely new renovation, gutting and rebuilding their interior and expanding their carryout and delivery to match the new post pandemic trends in dining and to completely modernize both their menu and their look, including a change to a new name, Soul Veg City.
Vegan Street Media led the way in the branding program, helping to design both the interior and exterior of the restaurant, and provide the color palette and a number of design touches to brighten and update the look for a new plant-forward audience. We designed a bright, catchy new logo and we incorporated it into all the signage and graphics as well as staff uniforms, food packaging, cups, bags, boxes, marketing materials, the website, social media and more, so that all of the elements of the new look are working together in harmony. We even helped them get stories about them published in the vegan press,
Soul Veg City has now reopened to large crowds, and it is the centerpiece of a growing restaurant and retail district in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood.
