Other Services
Vegan Street Media strives to provide all the marketing resources you would ever need, and we often create and produce work that fits your needs even when the fall outside the common forms of communication. Here are a few other areas where we have reached and persuaded new audiences. If what you need isn't included here or on our other pages, please let us know what you are trying to achieve and we'll advise you on how we could help you get there.
Pitch Decks and Materials to Attract Investors
A Pitch Deck is a carefully written and designed multipage document that defines the company, the product, the staff behind the product, its competition, its expectations, etc. in a predetermined format that is presented by a company or entrepreneur to potential investors. Vegan Street Media has produced several pitch decks for different clients. We find attractive and innovative ways to present this often dry information in a way that would capture and hold the attention of the potential investors and would stand out from all of the other proposals. |
Collateral Design (Brochures, Reports, etc.)
Vegan Street Media has been involved, and John has been involved before that, in the writing and design of dozens of brochures, reports and other multi-page materials. One of the challenges of creating a successful collateral piece is to take what is often very esoteric content written for a very limited audience and presenting it in such a way that a much larger audience can not only understand it, but also understand the importance and urgency of it and use this understanding to make a decision and act upon it. We have created everything from very simple one-page flyers to elaborately photographed 16-to-32-page brochures to comprehensive 300+ page reports. |
Food Photography and Videography
We have prepared, styled and shot hundreds of food photographs, mostly for Vegan Street (these can be seen here and here), but also for several of our clients. Lately, we have been also shooting a video series called Video Food and a Story where Marla prepares one of her recipes while telling a story about something completely different (click on each video still above to see the video and the recipe). While our in-house photography works well for social media an other low-budget projects, we also work with photographers who can create more high-end images for packaging and advertising. |
Event Planning and Promotion
We have organized, staged and promoted dozens of large and small events over the years, from bake sales and monthly community gatherings to large conferences and festivals. Most famously, we conceived, planned, produced and promoted Chicago VeganMania, a huge annual vegan festival that drew thousands of attendees, scores of vendors and two dozen restaurants and food vendors, as well as a full roster of speakers, chefs and musicians to Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. Chicago VeganMania ran for ten years and became a local treasure and a destination for many vegans from across the country and the world. We have also advised and aided people who went on to stage their own large-scale events, and we have a lot of experience with all the myriad details of hosting a festival. And we are adroit at creating all the necessary signage and environmental graphics, as well as developing all of the promotional materials from, posters, ads, press releases, and materials for the media, plus web graphics and online promotion. See some of the work we did for Chicago VeganMania here. |
Illustration, Character Development and Photo Illustration
Throughout all the pages of these portfolios, there are numerous examples of illustrations we have created, including several on this page above this section. Over the years, we have published thousands of illustrations. John worked as an illustrator for several years back in the 1990s, and as Vegan Street Media we have produced many drawings and pieces of digital art for more than a dozen clients. We work in several forms of cartooning, plus pencil and colored pencil drawings, more painterly forms and imitations of many different styles from art nouveau and art deco to 1930s and 1940s WPA and propaganda poster art and 1960s pop art and psychedelia. We have also developed several advertising characters (sometimes referred to as "critters") for different clients, including Nuvi (pictured below), who is the spokesperson for Vegan Street's Guide for New Vegans. We generally incorporate illustration into larger projects like logos, packaging design or advertising, but we have accepted jobs for freestanding illustrations that our clients used for their own purposes.
In addition, and we are not showing examples of this here, we have created many photo-collages and other images involving the use of image manipulation in Photoshop. We intend for most of these to be seamless and invisible, so that the image looks like a single photograph rather than one that was created from multiple images. There are lots of our manipulated photos scattered throughout these portfolios. Hopefully, most of them will be difficult to spot, but a couple of the more obvious ones are near the top of this page (the door in the middle of the Michigan Dunes), and at the top and the bottom of our Marketing and Brand Development page.
